NH HIKES: ECHO LAKE STATE PARK

EASY TRAILS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

When your days off align with your best friend’s, you make the most of it and take a road trip. We found ourselves in North Conway, New Hampshire to explore around the town and get some time outside.

Echo Lake State Park is one of the many locations nearby that’s perfect for snowshoeing.

Although the day we went, it was already packed down but was still a good walk with Yaxtrax or ice cleats. We found this place on the Alltrails app and had to scope it out. Its short and easy one mile loop around the lake makes it great for beginners or those in a time-crunch.

The park itself is home to many other trails,

including those that lead to both Cathedral and White Horse Ledges (but check seasonal conditions before you go). You’ll see views of the ledges from the lake loop.

During the winter, there’s limited space in the parking lot as they only plow a section out, so try to get there during off times. This is the perfect park to bring a picnic in the summer and enjoy the company. You can find more information at NH State Parks.

After our walk around the loop, we grabbed a late lunch in Conway and snuck over quickly to watch the sunset from a nearby overlook. Sometimes you just need to be a tourist and enjoy the sights!
